Kama Kalia and Sonia Pagliaroli are Co-Chairs for the CNIA Ontario Chapter Our hope is this chapter will foster learning, collaboration, innovation and leadership growth among Nurse Informaticists in Ontario. Thank you to those who joined our first Chapter meeting on January 14th @ 12-1pm! Summary of meeting: Co-chairs sought out feedback from membership on the focus for the year ahead. Participants voiced an interest in understanding how prepared new clinicians are for AI‑enabled practice, what foundational education may be needed, and how to foster dialogue that can influence policy—particularly around interoperability, data governance, and emerging legislation such as Bill C‑72. Key themes included: creating space for sharing innovations and experiences, highlighting nursing workflows, strengthening advocacy on patient safety and system harms tied to poor interoperability, and ensuring nurses and NPs are visible and engaged early in technology adoption. The group also expressed interest in regular events, research topics, networking, content sharing, and spotlighting initiatives such as AI scribes studies, data sovereignty, and broader discussions on digital health readiness across Ontario. |
