The inaugural National Institute on Nursing Informatics will be led by Dr. Lynn Nagle from the Lawrence S. Bloomberg, Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto and supported by a number of guest faculty from across Canada. This 3 day institute will provide a focused educational opportunity for nurses interested in learning more about informatics. The program will be of particular interest to nurse educators responsible for the integration of informatics into entry level nursing programs, nursing practice leaders, or nurses currently working in or considering a future career in informatics. Participants will be equipped with sufficient foundational knowledge to be able to effectively participate in informatics related operational and educational discussions and activities in their work settings.
Participants will benefit from the extensive practical, academic, and research knowledge and experience of the faculty who will teach in the institute. The curriculum will cover a broad range of topics with content being covered through a combination of didactic presentations, small and large group discussions, and independent study.

The second international Health Informatics conference (AHIC 2010) will be held April 25 - 27, 2012 at the Shulich School of Business Executive Learning Centre at York University in Toronto, Ontario. An exciting aspect of this conference is that it will provide onsite and remote attendance to enable true global participation. Main sessions will be webcast to the e-participants.
The Co-Hosts for AHIC 2012 are York University's Faculty of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Health and the Schulich School of Business and the National Institutes of Health Informatics.
AHIC 2012 addresses the crucial topic of integrated diagnostics and integrated clinical care delivery, the fusion of information and knowledge at the point of care. Presentations will focus on work that brings information from the multitude of diagnostic processes together into a holistic presentation for the care provider. Examples include combining Diagnostic Radiology Imaging with Digital Pathology, integrating high dimensional data sets and making distillations available at the point of care, and visualizing high dimensional clinical data sets.

Join us for a full day with Canadian nurse leaders to discuss and address the challenges in nursing informatics today. Register below.
This focused time together is intended to provide an opportunity for interaction with colleagues from across the country, to exchange ideas and experiences, and to brainstorm on issues and strategies for the continued advancement of informatics within Canada’s nursing community.

June 23 - 27, 2012The Canadian Nursing Informatics Association along with the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and representatives from Central and South Americas have successfully won their bid to host the NI 2012 eleventh triennial Congress on Nursing Informatics. NI2012 is the official meeting of the IMIA Special Interest Group on Nursing Informatics.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The 11th International Congress on Nursing Informatics will be in Montreal, Canada, June 23 - 27, 2012.
The Congress provides a forum for nurses and other health care professionals to inform, study, evaluate, innovate, and create a climate within which they can enlarge upon their professional goals.
In order to accomplish this purpose, the objectives are:
SUBMISSIONS: The submission deadline for the NI2012 is August 31, 2011. NI2012 will also be offering a submission mentorship program which will offer the opportunity for those that need assistance in submitting. The deadline for submissions with mentoring is July 31, 2011.

This intensive two day course focuses on current informatics trends and issues. It includes content for nurses who are interested in becoming ANCC board certified Informatics Nurses. Other clinical professionals working in informatics may wish to take the course to become exposed to the course topics.
