Knowing is Better Campaign from Infoway

Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) has launched an education campaign designed to inform Canadians about the benefits of electronic health record (EHR) systems.

The Knowing is Better than Not Knowing campaign will help Canadians understand the need, benefits and plan for building EHR systems in Canada while highlighting the progress that has been made so far. Through this, Infoway hopes that Canadians will be more knowledgeable and empowered to discuss EHRs with their families and friends.

During the campaign, www.knowingisbetter.ca will be an important resource for Canadians looking for more information about electronic health records (EHRs). While it is easy to get confused by the technical nature of EHR systems, this web site provides information that is relevant to Canadians and presents it in a highly visual, easy to understand way.

The microsite helps demonstrate how electronic health records will make health care in Canada better. It also explains how the electronic health record initiative is a collaborative effort between the federal, provincial and territorial governments. In addition, visitors to the site are encouraged to share this information among their social networks through Facebook and Twitter.

The key information communicated on the "Knowing is Better" microsite is delivered through several visuals to tell the story, including:

An introduction animation on the home page that provides visitors with a simplistic explanation of how electronic health records will benefit the delivery of health care in Canada
A secondary animation in the "Knowing the Plan" section that explains how electronic health record systems are being built and put in place across the country
