The Board of Directors for 2010 and 2011 was selected by CNIA members in the Summer/Fall of 2009. This continuing Board has taken on the task to develop by-laws, educational plans, membership services and communication modes to distribute support and materials for the development of informatics in Canada.

President
Mandate: To provide leadership and direction for the organization and the Board of Directors. To be the chief representative of CNIA in all public and professional activities and and oversees the management of CNIA finances.
Eithne Reichert, RN, BScN, MN, PMP - Saskatchewan
Eithne holds a Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan and is a certified Project Management Professional. Eithne’s clinical background covers over 20 years experience in acute care, critical care, nursing education and management/administration. She has led clinical information projects in different health settings; clinical systems development;, manual and electronic health record service projects since 1998, and more recently as an Independent Consultant in health care informatics projects with various regional and provincial health organizations. She has participated in a number of national working groups for health informatics, providing a voice for the front line clinician and their requirements. Eithne’s interest also lies in supporting the clinical transformation, and as such, is an advocate for Nurses to be engaged in the processes. Eithne is one of the founding members of the Saskatchewan Nursing Informatics special interest group.
President Elect
Mandate: To assist the President in administering the business of the organization as provided in the by-laws. Promotes the purposes of the organization.
Margaret Ann Kennedy, RN BScN MN PhD - Merigomish, NS
Margie is an informatics educator, previously holding a faculty position at the School of Nursing, St. Francis Xavier University. She is currently the Director, Standards: Standards Collaborative for Canada Health Infoway. Previously, she was the Director of Client Engagement for NS Logix, an innovative applied health informatics firm in Nova Scotia.
Margie has an extensive background in health informatics and nursing practice. She has a PHD from the School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of South Australia and a Master of Nursing from Dalhousie University. In addition, Margie was a member of the Pan-Canadian iEHR Clinical Terminology Integration (CTI) Group, a reviewer for SNOMED CT terminology value sets, a member of the Pan-Canadian Clinical Standards Sub-committee, and the Co-Chair of the Event Programme Task Force for the Standards Collaborative.

June Kaminski, RN MSN PhD Candidate – West Vancouver, BC
June teaches third and fourth year BSN students and is Curriculum Coordinator for the program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in British Columbia (since 1989). She is also a PhD Candidate in the Faculty of Curriculum and Pedagogy with a focus on technology Education at the University of British Columbia. Her doctoral dissertation focus is on nursing informatics culture within nursing education. June has developed and offered integrated curriculum related to Nursing Informatics for all BSN students at Kwantlen since the early 1990s, viewable at ttp://www.nursing-informatics.com/kwantlen
She is currently Editor-in-Charge of Virtual Nursing Practice and Culture and on the Board of Directors for the Online Journal of Nursing Informatics She is also Editor in Chief and Designer of the Canadian Journal of Nursing Informatics. and Vice President of Programs for Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing, Xi Eta Chapter .June has developed a web environment to promote professional development in nursing informatics competency for practicing nurses including California Board certified Continuing education NI courses, viewable at http://www.nursing-informatics.com As well, she engages in freelance web and graphic design work at Hygeia Designs June works as a consultant with various US and Canadian Universities to develop online curriculum related to nursing informatics, educational technology or Aboriginal learning.
June co-wrote a textbook (and designed the book cover) on "Education for a Digital World Advice, Guidelines, and Effective Practice from Around the Globe" with 30+ other expert authors, published by the Commonwealth of Learning in 2008. She is currently writing a chapter for the second book, "Innovations in Education" (and designing the book cover) of this series for educators - the chapter is entitled "Co-creation for Learning, Activism, and Advocacy". She also wrote a chapter for another book, "Knowledge Generation Through Nursing Informatics" with several other nursing informatics experts, published by Jones and Barlett in 2008. In 2007, she signed a publisher's agreement and is currently writing a textbook on nursing informatics for Canadian nurses, slated for publication in 2011.
Treasurer

Robin Carriere, RN BscN MHI - Ottawa, Ontario
Robin is currently the Champlain & North East LHIN coordinator for the Health Outcomes for Better Information and Care Initiative (HOBIC). He has a Bachelor of Nursing from Laurentian University and a Masters of Health Informatics from Dalhousie University. Robin has had a variety of experiences in nursing informatics including health information system training and support, database development and analytical report writing. He has been very involved in the informatics community having held positions on both the CNIA board as well as the Ontario Nursing Informatics Groups (ONIG) board. Robin's clinical nursing experience includes paediatric emergency, neonatal intensive care and adult intensive care.
Director of Membership Services
Mandate: In collaboration with the members of the executive committee, provides leadership in the area of membership recruitment, membership growth and membership development.
Mary Eileen MacPhail BScN, RN – Halifax, Nova Scotia
Mary Eileen is currently a Clinical Informatics Coordinator at Capital District Health Authority in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This role functions as the link between Clinical and Information Technology, analyzing clinical procedures in relation to manual and automated systems. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Mary Eileen also completed a Certificate in Information Technology Solutions from Saint Mary’s University, Halifax Nova Scotia.
For the past several years Mary Eileen has held the secretary position for the Nova Scotia Nursing Informatics Group. At present, she is president.
Director of Communications
Mandate: To maintain internal and external communications on behalf of CNIA<.p>

Heidi Chevrier, RN BSN BA - Toronto, ON
Heidi Chevrier is a Registered Nurse working as the Corporate Manager Clinical Informatics at William Osler Health Centre, Brampton, Ontario. Heidi has over 25 years experience as a Registered Nurse working in critical care and informatics. She has worked on various clinical system applications leading to the implementation of an Electronic Health Record. Heidi is the Past President of the Ontario Nursing Informatics Group and has degrees in Nursing, Psychology and Health Administration and is currently pursuing her Masters in Health Studies.
Jurisdictional Representatives
Mandate: To support and advance activities and mandate of the CNIA within the provinces and territories . Tracy currently works as the Clinical Coordinator for Informatics at the University of Alberta Hospitals/Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. She received her Master's in Nursing in 1992 with clinical nursing expertise in Pediatrics specifically nephrology and oncology. In 1993, Tracy moved into the world of clinical informatics and for over 15 years has been leading a variety of clinical software implementations in acute care and ambulatory settings across BC and Alberta. Tracy has been involved in national health informatics initiatives including CNIA as jurisdictional representative and conference planning committee member since 2005; Canada Health Infoway's Nurses Advisory Group advising on End-user nursing engagement strategies and Pan-Canadian Peer to Peer Network initiative; and C-HOBIC workshop participant on mapping Canadian clinical outcomes using ICNP. Tracy represents the Canadian Nurses Association as Alternate to Kathryn Hannah on Canada Health Infoway's Standards Collaborative Strategic Committee. Tracy is an active member of COACH presenting at e-Health conferences over the past 4 years. Alberta currently does not have a Nursing Informatics Group, Tracy would like to work with other nurses to develop this group. Kate Burns graduated from the University of New Brunswick Nursing Program and accumulated 20 years of combined bedside nursing and management experience in medicine and intensive care units before moving to informatics. Kate became interested in informatics when she was seconded as part of a team to automate nursing workload and care planning in 1999. In 2000, she accepted the position of Regional Documentation Coordinator when it was realized that work was required before complete automation of documentation would be possible. It was from this position that she became internal lead, eDocumentation Project Manager, for a 2 year project focused on the automation of clinical documentation for nursing and therapeutic (allied health) services. RVH received a Knowledge Innovation Recognition Award (KIRA) in May 2008 for this project.
Kate is currently the Director of Nursing Informatics for RHA B and is pleased to hold executive positions with the New Brunswick Nursing informatics Group (NBNIG) and Canadian Nursing Informatics Association (CNIA) in this time of increasing focus on the importance of informatics to nursing.
